Love the cubes the ice maker produced (vs ™€œhalf moons™€ previous refrigerator made). Chilled water dispenser works well. Consumer Reports also notes Amana as one of the more reliable makes in side by sides. Hope it lasts for many years.

So far so good. Larger than I thought it would be, especially the depth past the countertop. Have had accidents with the water/ice dispensers, as they are very close together. Sometime I hit the water dispenser when getting ice. Would be nice to have a OFF button for water distribution to solve this problem. Last refrigerator was a 20 year old Kenmore that was still working, so I hope this refrigerator last.

I bought this a couple months ago to replace the refrigerator that I had since 2006. This refrigerator had more cu ft but holds way less. It's a good refrigerator but I'm disappointed in the actual size. I can't really use the freezer because there is almost no space in it. Also, if you pack it too full, the ice maker stops making ice. Ugh!! I use a lot of ice!

We have not had a new refrigerator for over 30 years! The Amana Refrigerator had just the dimensions that we needed to have for our kitchen. It offered the water and ice dispensary. We love to use it! The interior of the frig is so bright and clean, very spacious. We love the glass shelves to be able to view what we are looking for. The black finish of the frig matches our kitchen. The fact that it was shiny black made it match beautifully!

Freezing Coils

I purchased an Amana Refrigerator model AS12175GRS from Home Depot on 6/25/2022. About 1 month later I noticed the unit running almost continuously only turning off to enter the defrost cycle. I called Amana and they scheduled an appliance service company to come out on 8/12/2022 to check the unit. On 8/10/2022 I noticed approx. half inch of ice covering the back freezer wall. I took photos of the ice and removed all food from the unit. Following the directions provided by Amana, I thawed the freezer using a fan and towels under the unit to protect my hardwood floor. The appliance repair company came out on 8/12/2022 and, without testing anything, determined the problem was a faulty "thermister". About a week later they came back and replaced the thermister. The tech stated (without testing anything and/or running the diagnostic program) that the problem should be solved. On 8/31/2022 I again noticed the refrigerator running continuously and ice forming on the freezer wall. On 9/1/2022 I took new photos of the ice on the freezer back wall and called Amana. They scheduled the same appliance repair company to come back out on 9/12/2022. They also said the local repair person would be required to call and consult with an Amana/Whirlpool Service technician before working on the refrigerator. I called the repair company and asked if they could send a different repair person due to the fact that he did not test anything and did not run the diagnostic program available with this model. The company supervisor stated they would not send a different tech and advised me of what a great, qualified employee he was. On 9/12/2022 the same tech returned. When I asked him why he replaced the thermister without testing to see if it was faulty and why he didn't run the diagnostic program, he immediately took offense and threatened to leave. He also accused me of trying to tell him how to do his job. I then asked him if his work order directed him to call Amana for assistance, he said he had not been told that. He looked in the freezer and asked what's wrong with it . I told him the coils were still freezing and ice was still forming on the outside of the freezer wall. He removed the evaporator coil cover and saw that there was indeed ice accumulation. He ran some resistance tests and then called someone on the phone. I assume the person on the phone told him to RUN THE DIAGNOSTICS PROGRAM because he grabbed the instruction paper, I had placed on the counter top and started reading. He held the temperature control button for a few seconds and told the phone person the unit would not go into the diagnostic mode. I advised him he had to hold the door light button while pressing the temp selection button. I also asked him if he wanted me to turn off and on the electric breaker since the instructions said the button procedure had to be accomplished within 30 seconds of powering up. He said yes, so I turned the breaker off, waited about 15 seconds and turned it back on. He failed to place the temp control in the lowest setting before simultaneously pressing the two buttons for 5 seconds. I decided not to say anything else about following the procedural instructions. He once again told the person on the phone the unit would not go into the diagnostic mode. He stated they concluded the problem was a faulty Control Board. I asked how long it would take to get the part. He said it could be a week, two weeks or even a month. After he left, I followed the instructions and immediately put the refrigerator in the diagnostic mode. In addition to a bad Amana refrigerator, I am at the mercy of an appliance service company that doesn™€™t care about the customer who purchased a brand-new product. If it wasn™€™t for the warranty, I would have ordered this so-called technician out of my house.

I bought this a month ago, first one delivered was returned because of damage. The second one arrived in great shape but only worked for a week. Repairman made 3 trips out to fox it only to find that the main board is bad in all of these units and is on back order. Fortunately I had kept my old refrigerator and I had a backup and didn™€™t lose a thousand dollars worth of food. There is no plan by Amana to get this fixed since the part is not available so it sits in my way doing nothing. The ONLY way to make me a happy customer is to provide a full refund and someone to haul this junk away.

The unit stopped working within the first 3 days. It was a pain in the you know what to get ahold of Whirlpool. They finally sent out a repair man and it lasted about another 3 days. Called them out again and they said that they had to order a control board. Still haven™€™t heard back from anyone. Home Depot has a 0 return policy. If I known that before I ordered I would have never ordered from them. I will never order a appliance from Home Depot again. If I can help it I will never buy a Whirlpool appliance again. This is the second whirlpool appliance that I have bought and it quit within a week.

The manufacturer (like Chinese companies) saved on a small booklet for the consumer called "Operating Instructions". It can be found on the Internet after spending an hour trying to find the name of your model and then print it. I found and printed. There I learned what temperature should be in different zones of the refrigerator and freezer. But! In order to know what kind you have - you must buy a special thermometer! Really in the 21st century it was impossible for such a price (10 years ago I bought the same Amagna twice as cheap!) To install a temperature display with two buttons?

Ice Maker freezes up ice during defrost

We bought this refrigerator 2 weeks ago and have been fighting with the ice maker every morning since. The ice melts during defrost at night and the forms a solid block in the screw mechanism by morning causing it to not dispense ice. Otherwise we love the refrigerator.

I bought this refrigerator a month ago and I just LOVE it! I like the size, that there is a lot of room, that the door automatically closes unlike my old one that beeped if it wasn't shut all the way (which is a good thing, but also annoying), the ice maker makes both cubed ice and crushed. It doesn't show finger prints either, which is nice. The ONLY thing I wish was different was a quieter ice dispenser. It may be normal and I'm just not used to it but even so, I recommend this frig to anyone. You'll be happy. :-)

The Most Functional Fridge Design!

I bought this fridge a few months ago and am so satisfied with how much better the space layout is over my previous one with a top freezer and one side door. The side-by-side feature makes accessing stored foods so much easier - more shelving for visibility. The side freezer provides better separation and less stacks of food to dig through. Items don™€™t get ™€˜buried™€™ or ™€˜lost™€™ on deep shelves. The external ice and water dispenser is now a household daily essential, providing either cubes or crushed ice at a touch of the panel. And the motor is relatively quiet.

Disappointed that the refrigerator shelves don't have as many options for positioning them. Quality not as good as my old G E Profile. Otherwise it is nice.

Overall nice fridge

I needed a new refrigerator, but had space constraints, especially with height, because of cabinets. I previously had a Kenmore, loved it. I had external water and ice, used to it, wanted it in the new fridge. Originally ordered a Whirlpool, but had waited 3 months; this Amana came in, which it turns out is under Whirlpool. It is definitely a cold fridge, brightly lit with adequate shelving and adjustable door bins. Freezer seems smaller than my old one. Makes ice very quickly, seems to overflow easily. My only real complaint is the design of the external water tab in front of the ice, instead of beside it. My glass seems to slip off the tab you push, the plastic is smooth, no grip. Definitely a nice looking fridge, but seems to scratch easily. Overall, I like the fridge, didn™€™t need anything fancy, but wanted a decent one. This fits the bill well, especially with the size constraints I have.

Love the refrig - easy to find things

I received it last month after a 95 day delay - delivery and set up poor - they broke a connection on door for ice - took 2 calls for repair - refrigerator itself is awesome - love my ice and water on door - refrigerator roomy and very easy to find and locate what's inside - enjoy all the storage on door

Efficient use of space

Because our fridge needs to fit into a relatively small space, our options are limited. This model was actually our second choice because one that was a bit bigger wasn't available for weeks (2020 strikes again). As it turns out, our fears that we'd have to make a big adjustment because of a smaller refrigerator are mostly unfounded. The design really allows for lots of storage. The ice maker is very loud, but other than that, this is a good buy.

My new Amana refrigerator arrived on August 5, 2020. It fit perfectly and all the features (ice maker, water and ice dispenser) works wonderfully. The finish both interior and exterior is excellent and easy to clean.
